Charbon Bridge Co. Inc. was founded by Stew McCoy in 1961 for the purpose of providing steel and concrete services to contractor Corum & Co in Madisonville, Ky as well as other companies in the expanding highway construction industry . Bob Kik joined the company in 1964 , and with Stew McCoy purchased the company from its previous owners in 1970. Bridge rehabilitation became the major focus of the company in the mid 1970’s and the company began Asphalt milling operations in the early 1980’s . From the early 80’s until present full service asphalt milling and concrete construction have been the primary focus of the business and in light of the shift in primary business the name was changed in 2003 to Charbon Contracting LLC .
Stewart McCoy retired in 2000 and Bob Kik retired in 2004 when the company was purchased by the Current owners Steve McCoy and Brett Kik.
